Romantic Hindu Wedding in an Italian Castle: A Serene Union in Umbria
Neesha and Karan are a couple who love adventures, discovering new places and having fun with their friends. However, they did not want to give up a romantic setting for their Hindu wedding in Italy. They were looking for a location in the countryside with beautiful views to have a fairytale wedding.
Thanks to our efficient Venue Scouting service, where we base our search exclusively on the criteria that couples give us, Neesha and Karan chose a wonderful Castle in the Umbrian countryside with a view of the rolling hills and surrounded by greenery.
Traditional Hindu ceremony with the view of the Italian countryside
The bride wanted to wear a traditional red lehenga for the Hindu ceremony, while the groom wore a pastel-colored shervani to complement her outfit. We placed the Mandap in the panoramic part of the garden. It was all decorated with various shades of pink and red: from the draping in a blush pink to the flowers in hot pink and red that perfectly matched the outfits of the bride and groom. The groom had his Baraat on a white vintage Beetle preceded by the traditional dhol player and his friends and family with smoke bombs. He was welcomed by the bride’s family under an arch decorated with greenery and flowers for the traditional ritual of the Jaan arrival.
The ceremony was conducted by our Gujarati Pandit, a young priest who lives in Italy. He has a very open mind and knows how to read the audience and also introduces moments of fun when needed. Considering that many of the guests were not Indian, having a Pandit who knows
how to explain the various steps of the ceremony in an engaging way was certainly very useful.
Since it was a hot day – and it is known that in Italy in summer the sun beats down hard – we provided parasols to give the guests the opportunity to have some shade. The bride did not want the usual paper umbrellas and so fabric umbrellas with mirrors were ordered which made a beautiful effect. The ceremony was very emotional and fun at the same time, and certainly very romantic in a perfect setting for the union of this wonderful couple.
After the ceremony a full Indian lunch was served. Having full Indian meals for their wedding was one of the criterias that the couple required, and we made sure it was possible.
Liliac color theme for the al fresco wedding reception
After lunch the guests had time to get some rest and relax. It was an intimate wedding, with only 80 guests, and the venue chosen based on the criteria of the couple, could accommodate them all so there was no hurry and no need to rush things. In the meantime, we changed the setup to prepare for the evening reception in the Castle’s court under a roof of fairy lights.
For the reception the theme was lilac, a color that the newlyweds loved. The cocktail hour was held in the panoramic garden, with high cocktail tables with lilac tablecloths and small floral centerpieces. There was a large photo corner station with Polaroid cameras and various props to entertain the guests. In the dinner area in the courtyard, we set up round tables with majestic tall flower arrangements in the color palette as centerpieces. Even the stationery was in lilac to recall the theme of the evening, as were the cute thank-you notes created by the
bride to attach to the bags of sugared Jordan almonds placed on each place at the table to incorporate this Italian tradition in their Indian wedding.
The dinner served was also full Indian, with the tandoor rented for the occasion and brought by the Indian caterer. To end in style, the Italian desserts that the bride loved could not be amiss. The cake was a classic Italian Millefoglie that the newlyweds finished decorating together with the pastry chef in front of the guests – another typical tradition of Italian weddings that Neesha&Karan wanted to incorporate.
It was a beautiful evening, full of fun and dancing with the Gujarati DJ from the UK. Everyone had fun and will take wonderful memories with them of this romantic Hindu wedding we had the pleasure to organize here in Italy.
