Hindu wedding in Sicily

Giulia and Rahul live in the United States. However, Giulia was born in Italy – Sicily, to be precise. This is why her family as well as many friends and relatives still reside near the city of Palermo. Rahul, instead, is from a Gujarati family living in New York. So it was an important requirement for the two spouses to recognize both of their heritages. Therefore they decided to organize a full-blown Indian wedding in Sicily in addition to an Italian one. While the mother of the bride planned the Catholic ceremony, Giulia decided to entrust the Indian part of the celebrations us here at Best Indian Weddings Italy, specialists in planning Indian weddings in Italy. Actually, she wanted to make a very good impression to Rahul’s family and to all the Indian guests who would come to the wedding from the USA.

Historic villa with Mediterranean garden

For the Hindu ceremony, the bride chose a historic villa in Bagheria, which was surrounded by a garden of tall Mediterranean pine trees. In addition, it also had a beautiful view of the sea. Giulia, wanting a Mandap of soft colors, sent us a photo of her lehenga for inspiration. And thanks to the collaboration with our trusted florist, we were able to arrange the fabrics in the exact same powder pink as the bridal lehenga. Also, the flowers for the Mandap followed the same color scheme: from ivory to powder pink, with a few red roses here and there, to honor the red of Indian tradition for weddings. The wedding garlands – Jaymala – were made with fresh roses in red and white. The Mandap was expertly set up in front of the villa, creating an impressive, romantic effect.

Rahul’s Baraat was a succession of colors and sounds, presided over by our excellent Dhol player who created a lively atmosphere for the dance. The groom arrived on a white horse that we decorated with beautiful hand-made decorations. During the Milni ceremony the Italian and Sicilian families exchanged gifts in the sense of the union of the two families. Finally after the traditional Hindu ceremony performed by Rahul’s family Pandit, a Sicilian lunch was enjoyed by all.

We decided to get married about two years ago when he proposed to me and we wanted to have an Italian wedding, a wedding in Italy since I am Italian. So I knew we wanted to incorporate both of the cultures in our wedding. So that’s why we contacted Svetlana with Best Indian Weddings Italy for helping us. We wanted to incorporated both cultures, and doing an Indian wedding anywhere is difficult and here in Sicily it seemed like a big task, but Svetlana did a fantastic job and made it extremely easy, very professional, and we didn’t have to worry at all. She took care of it all, and it was perfect. Yeah, especially since we were both living in New York and the wedding was here in Italy, where I’m originally from – she made everything so smooth and easy for us. It was such, just, like a seamless process, very efficient, it was great and super professional. I would recommend Svetlana to anybody. Absolutely.
