Beautyful Hindu wedding in Italy despite the bad weather

Alisha and Bhavik’s Hindu wedding took place in an enchanting castle in Umbria. A huge place with lots of both outdoor and indoor areas. Unfortunately, due to bad weather on that day, unusual for that time of the year, we had to move all the events indoors. Fortunately, given that they chose the perfect venue, we were able to use different halls for each event.

We started off with the Mehndi party, which was initially planned for the pool area. Though we had to host it in the beautiful historic hall of the castle surrounded by ancient stone walls and with wrought iron chandeliers hanging from the tall ceilings. We moved all the setups made of colorful paper balls indoors. And since we already checked the weather forecast, we brought extra colorful drapes and ribbons just in case, to be able to add an

extra colorful touch to the indoor hall. We successfully installed all the decorations in order to create a proper setup for this vibrant event.

Alisha had her bridal henna done in her suite with our talented Mehndi artist, who created amazing patterns on her. During the party also the guests had their chance to get their mehndi done. The castle provided a delicious buffet of street food that the guests really enjoyed. All this accompanied by the music played by a talented Indian DJ from the UK.

It was a fun party, not only for the open bar but also because the bride and groom took part in several games organized by the guests, such as the classic “shoe game” or the men’s race to tie a Saree.

Indoor Hindu wedding setup

The next day they had their Hindu wedding ceremony, the most important part of their events, celebrated by our trusted Gujarati Pandit. The groom chose a nice light blue vintage beetle for his Baraat, a very unusual, yet fun and colorful, way to make his entrance accompanied by smoke flares and the dhol player making everyone dance. Luckily enough, they were able to have the Baraat and Jaan arrival outdoors right before it started pouring rain. In fact the ceremony was held indoors, in the biggest and most elegant hall of the castle.

Being this hall fully refurbished and more modern, and thanks to its natural lighting and panoramic view, it was a valid alternative for the wedding ceremony.

The Mandap was set up in front of the big gate door – which we kept open – so to still have the amazing panorama as backdrop. The whole decoration that was supposed to be done outside, was perfectly recreated in this hall, with big floral compositions and candles, all in the shades of powder pink to match the couple’s outfits. Everything turned out to be very elegant, to reflect the bride and groom’s style.

After the emotional ceremony and the group pictures, everyone was escorted to another part of the castle to enjoy a yummy Indian buffet lunch prepared by our team Indian chef, for which we received so many compliments. Then it was time for Vidaai and for the bride and groom to leave in their beetle to go have their private photoshoot.

Total white wedding reception

For the wedding reception we had to use the same hall as the ceremony one. It was the most suitable for the type of setting chosen by the couple. A particular turn on “total white”, with no flowers but with sumptuous feathers on silver candelabra as centerpieces; while on the head table there were also beautiful white roses to add more importance to that table. An extremely elegant and classy setup, different from many others seen before.

The theme of Alisha and Bhavik’s reception was “travel”, which was very common among destination couples last year. And in fact, the seating plan was a travel map with all the places they had been together, naming each table. And on each table, we also put a display of polaroid pictures of the couple in that specific place. The wedding favors were in line with the chosen theme: small paper suitcases which we filled with the famous Italian chocolates “Baci Perugina” which are specifically produced in Umbria. “Baci” in Italian means “kisses”, so these chocolates represent love, what better wedding favor than this one?

The bride wore a stunning silver lehenga, and the groom wore a classy tuxedo, both of them were very glamour.

The weather was still not on our side, so we had to move the cocktail hour indoor as well. We put a limoncello corner right before the stairs so that each guest could have their complimentary shot before heading down to the foyer where a rich buffet of Italian appetizers was waiting for them. The bride and groom made their big entrance and had their cake cutting with a stunning cake decorated with grey and gold marble design. The dinner then took place in the banquet hall, after which everyone danced and had fun till late night.

It was definitely a beautiful wedding despite the bad weather, where everyone felt welcomed and pampered like in a big family and where they had the opportunity to taste the best of both worlds thanks to the choice of the venue with an in-house catering company and the pool of Indian suppliers that we at Best Indian Weddings Italy work with.
